Staying at Wild Galloway

  • Wild Galloway is a secluded collection of just two architect-designed luxury cabins in southwest Scotland, created for quiet escapes, deep rest, and complete privacy. Set within the landscapes of Dumfries & Galloway, each cabin combines modern comfort with outdoor living, dark skies, and immersive nature.

  • There are only two cabins at Wild Galloway. The cabins are carefully positioned apart from one another to maximise privacy, space, and uninterrupted views across the surrounding landscape.

  • Privacy is central to the Wild Galloway experience. Each cabin is independently positioned and designed to feel secluded, with private outdoor bathing areas and carefully considered sightlines to create a sense of complete escape. The cabins are 100m apart and separated by a number of full mature oak trees.

  • Wild Galloway is primarily designed for couples and solo travellers looking to slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a quieter pace of life. The cabins suit romantic stays, long weekends, remote working escapes, and restorative breaks throughout the year. Each cabin has a sofa in the living area that can be converted into a single bed to allow for a third person to stay in the cabin.

  • Yes. Both cabins have high-speed broadband throughout, making them suitable for streaming, remote working, and longer stays.

  • Wild Galloway is intentionally small-scale, with only two highly private cabins designed around quiet luxury, architecture, and connection to the landscape. Features such as outdoor copper baths, outdoor showers, cinema mode, dark skies, and carefully curated interiors create a slower and more immersive experience than a typical holiday stay.

Outdoor Bathing & Facilities

  • Yes. Each outdoor bath is positioned within a private outdoor space designed to feel sheltered and secluded from the surrounding landscape and the other cabin. Every cabin also features a private outdoor rainfall shower, allowing guests to immerse themselves fully in the landscape throughout their stay.

  • Absolutely. Winter is one of the most atmospheric times to enjoy the outdoor baths, particularly beneath clear dark skies or during colder evenings beside the fire. Each cabin has its own large independent hot water system, allowing guests to top up the outdoor bath with fresh hot water and enjoy long soaks even during colder weather, winter storms, and dark sky evenings.

  • Yes. Each cabin includes a private outdoor dining area with table and chairs, along with a Kamado-style barbecue for outdoor cooking and slower evenings spent outside in the landscape.

  • Yes. Each cabin features a large outdoor fire pit with reclining Adirondack chairs, creating a relaxed space to unwind outdoors throughout the year. Large tartan blankets are also provided, allowing guests to settle in beside the fire with a drink and enjoy the atmosphere long into the evening.

  • Yes. An initial supply of firewood is provided for the wood-burning stove and outdoor bath heating. Additional firewood may be available to purchase during your stay. This firewood can be used with the indoor wood burner or the outdoor fire pit. Fire starters and matches are also provided.

Booking & Payments

  • All stays can be booked directly through the Wild Galloway website using our secure online booking system.

  • A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your stay. The remaining balance is due 90 days before arrival.

  • Our cancellation terms are outlined fully within our booking terms and conditions. We strongly recommend guests take out suitable travel insurance to protect against unexpected changes or cancellations.

  • Wild Galloway typically operates with a minimum stay of two nights. During busier periods, including bank holidays and holiday seasons, longer minimum stays of three nights or more may apply.

  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement at the point of booking checkout through our website. We ask that dogs remain off beds and soft furnishings and are not left unattended inside the cabins.

Arrival & Location

  • Wild Galloway is located in rural Dumfries & Galloway in southwest Scotland, surrounded by forests, hills, coastline, and some of the darkest skies in the UK. We are a 10 minute drive from both the town of Kirkcudbright and the village of Borgue. Arrival instructions will be provided to guests following booking confirmation.

  • Yes. Free private parking is available at Wild Galloway. There is a communal car park which is between a 50m - 150m walk from each cabin, depending on which one you have booked.

  • We strongly recommend arriving by car, as public transport options in the surrounding rural area are limited.

  • Check-in in from 4pm and check-out is before 10am on departure day. It is possible to check in earlier and check out later subject to availability. This can be confirmed during the booking process.

  • Yes. Wild Galloway operates a self check-in system, allowing guests to arrive independently and settle in at their own pace.

Dark Skies & Nature

  • Yes. Wild Galloway benefits from exceptionally low levels of light pollution, creating excellent conditions for stargazing throughout the year.

  • Yes. Wild Galloway is located within the transition zone of the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park, one of the best places in Europe for observing the night sky thanks to its exceptionally low levels of light pollution and vast dark landscapes.

  • Yes. The surrounding area offers a wide variety of walking routes, forest trails, coastal walks, and quiet countryside roads to explore.

  • Every season offers a different experience. Summer brings long evenings and outdoor living, autumn offers rich colours and dramatic weather, winter is ideal for stargazing and fireside stays, and spring brings quieter landscapes and wildlife.

Food & Extras

  • A small selection of welcome essentials may be provided on arrival. This includes muesli, milk, orange juice, tea + coffee and a number of larder essentials.

  • Yes. Selected extras and experience packages may be available to add before your arrival, depending on availability.

  • Cinema Mode transforms the bedroom and cabin into a cosy private cinema setting at the touch of a button, with a concealed projector screen lowering into place. The screen comes with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Youtube included.

Accessibility & Practical Information

  • No unfortunately they are not. Due to the rural setting and natural landscape surrounding the cabins, Wild Galloway is not currently suitable for wheelchair access.

  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the cabins.

  • We recommend bringing suitable outdoor clothing and footwear for exploring the surrounding landscape in all weather conditions. Everything else required for a comfortable stay is provided within the cabins.
